Wellesbourne U10 Play Like The Pride

30 children from the Wellesbourne U10 group visited St George’s Park at the weekend and were put through their paces like an England player.

They had access to areas that are normally reserved for Harry Kane and Leah Williamson as an FA coach take the group through a day in the life of an England International.

Home to all England Teams, we arrived at the world class performance facility set in over 330 acres of stunning National Forest woodland.

The day started with a tour of the National Football Centre and Hotel areas that the England teams use while on camp, we had exclusive use of the new England Boot Room for the session and the the new experience 3G pitch.

A bespoke and tailored technical coaching session was devised and delivered by our host FA coach and the group finished the day spending all their pocket money on “SGP” merchandise.

A great day was had by all and is highly recommended to any group.

Club partner with The FA & PayPal to produce a video about The FA Matchday App

We were invited by The FA and PayPal to take part in a video shoot as a case study for The FA’s Matchday app. Back in August we spent the afternoon filming an interview and a training session with our U9 boys group and U12 Blaze Girls to promote our use of the app within the club.

A massive thank you to all 230 kids parents who have got on board and are using the app this season to help manage player availability, pay your fees and ultimately help our coaches spend less time on admin and more time on coaching the children.

As a result of all 17 teams hitting their target of payments through the app, we managed to get over £4200 of free Nike equipment for the club. So new cones, new match balls and new bibs.

Here is the video of our club secretary Simon Hume talking about the benefits that the app has brought to the club.

Generous Donation to our Defibrillator Appeal

As you may be aware, the club has been raising money to purchase two defibrillators for us use at our home games in the village, at Dovehouse, and just outside the village at our HRI location.

Through some incredible donations from parents, members of the community and local businesses we were gaining on our first target of £850 to purchase the first one.

We were then contacted by Shoezone, who have a Charitable Trust and wanted to donate enough money to buy a defibrillator out right. So in a little over 2 weeks of fund raising, we’ve almost raised enough money to buy both.

Thanks to Jon Fearn at Shoezone for putting our case forward.

At the time of writing we are £188 shy of our overall target. A massive achievement, so thank you once again from everyone at the club to put as in this position so quickly!

Once this round of fund raising is completed, we’ll turn our attention to hopefully purchasing a lockable box to be placed at Dovehouse, for one of the defibrillators, which means the whole community will have access to be able to use it as well.

If you’d like to make a donation to our appeal, you can do so here: https://www.wellesbournewanderersfc.co.uk/donate/

We are pleased to announce that WWFC have selected Surridge Sport as our training & playing kit partner for the next 3 years, with the option to extend our agreement beyond that.

The agreement sees bespoke designs for Boys, Girls, Away and Goalkeeper kits that all teams will benefit from in coming seasons.  A wide range of exclusive WWFC branded training clothing, including a specific range for our growing girls’ section, will be offered via a Surridge hosted and managed webstore, with delivery direct to your door.

Both the club and Surridge are committed to a partnership that works for everyone involved in the club as committee members, coaches, volunteers, parents and of course our players.  During selection, we were really pleased with the quality and price of the kit and training wear and are sure our players & parents will be delighted when it starts to arrive.

The new webstore will be available by the end of August and all teams needing playing kit for the new season will receive it in time for kick-off on the weekend of the 7th September.

2018-2019 Awards Day; Sunday 9th June

Our Awards Day for the 2018-2019 is fast approaching. Join us at the Cricket Club on Sunday 9th June from 2pm to celebrate the season.

As in previous years, we are once again holding an afternoon of fun, football and awards to celebrate the fantastic footballers of Wellesbourne Wanderers.   This year’s awards afternoon promises to be one of the best ever following the growth of the club in recent seasons, with fun activities for the children (and adults!) along with BBQ, Ice-Cream, Cakes, Tombolas and, of course, some football.

The cricket club bar will be open to help you quench your thirst on a (hopefully) sunny June afternoon!   We use the awards day as our way of showcasing the club in the community, so if you’re passing and not currently involved with the club, please pop along and see what we’re all about.

All our members will receive their end of season trophy, along with the player of the season awards for each team.

Parents:  Please give any donations for the tombola (both alcohol and non alcohol please) to your teams coach by the end of May and bring any cake donations along on the day.
