Wellesbourne Wanderers FC Under 8s Fixture Report

Date Type Team S v S Team
24/9/2016 League Wellesbourne 3 v 8 St. Peter Celtic

Todays game was a great competitive contest and St Peters deserved their 8-3 win (or was it 7-3!😀)
In training this week we worked on some specific game related tasks and it was great to see at times during the game how the boys had learnt from this.
Concentration, Defending goal side, Working up and down the pitch as a team in defence and attack, were 3 of the main work ons and I can honestly say I saw all 3 on occasions during the match.
Pleasing to also see this week (unlike last week where the boys fell away a little) was the never say die determination as all the boys battled all the way till the end, finishing the game actually the stronger team.

As always our passion to go forward was plain to see, however sometimes we forget that we also have to defend. I counted at least 6 goals that we conceded from leaving their striker all alone so this is a definite work on for next weeks training.
Strong performances and most importantly improvement to be seen from all the boys which is all you want to see, as well as some smiley faces at the end of the game.
Harry W picked up the parents MOTM medal is week after an all action performance, hitting the post on at least 1 occasion and running his socks off.
Brilliant hat trick from Ellis who along with his goals, showed real maturity in defending as well as some great saves in goal.
Mim, Oscar and William battled and tackled in midfield stopping the opponents getting any time on the ball.
Gabriel & Henry worked hard on their defensive game getting themselves into good positions in dangerous times
And Noah and Harry U both had excellent games showing composure on the ball, desire to win the tackle and some good passing.

Each game the boys will learn from and this weeks lesson point is definitely concentration for the full 40 minutes as against good teams we get punished when we switch off. We will work on this in training over the coming weeks!

As always great to see the smiles at the end as well as the row boat!
See you all at trying next Friday.
