18/12/2016 League WWFC 7 v 1 Bedworth

Yes, you are not mistaken, the boys finally had a game! Do not understand this priority for the cup!
Anyway, Bedworth were the visitors who were also suffering from lack of match practice, rooted to the bottom with WWFC for company. A couple of injuries meant WWFC were down to 12 fit players but it’s a squad game and so no excuses.
The Manager had been on the pop the night before if his lining of the pitch was anything to go by and we welcomed Cliff, a ref whom we have had before who must be the best in the league!
And what a disastrous start t was, a complete mix up in defence (switched to 3 at the back because of injuries) and an easy cross to clear was met by a Be3dworth player to put them 1-0 up after only 90 seconds – que much shouting from The Manager about waking up, marking the man, being useless, Brexit and Trump.
However, WWFC soon settled down and with James leading the charge down the left with a couple of good runs. On 8 mins the pressure told when a goof one two with Richard saw James plant the ball in the net from the angle to even the scores up. WWFC were dominating he game now and the Bedworth goalie kept them in the game with further saves form James, Will and Richard although some should have been scored if balls have been laid back. Joe was bossing the midfield really well with his nonchalant hands on hips approach
Joe in the WWFC did not have much to do but made an excellent save on 32 minutes to keep the scores level. Bedworth then found their stride and dominated the last 10 minutes of the half, keeping James quiet on the left. However in the dying seconds of the half, Oli scored a scrambled goal to make it 2-1 at halftime to WWFC.
WWFC got the start to the second half they needed with a run through the centre by James, well finished to make it 3-1. 2 minutes later, good hassling from Daniel saw him able to pass to James but the shot was saved. On 57 minutes, a free kick 25 yrds out was beautifully curled into the top corner from Will, to shouts of ‘Lucky’ from his father! 4-1 and you feel the game was won. Bedworth heads seem to drop and further goals from and Will (hat trick) made it 6-1. Oli had a header just over after aggressive work by James, but the win was completed when James also scored his third to make the final score 7-1 and a welcome boot to the season. Man of the match was Will for his very strong performance in midfield and his first hat trick.
I think the next match is another month away which probably means 3 games a week during GCSE’s – I think not !!!
Merry Christmas to you all and a bug thank you to the coaching team for once again giving up their valuable time over the year.
