30/10/2016 League WWFC 3 v 3 Hartshill

Hartshill were the visitors for what was only the third league match of the season they were unbeaten s far so a tough match on the cards. Captain Joe was sunning himself in Portugal but the team were determined to put on a show without him. With Coach Graham having o ref, Simon assisted Manager Richard on the touchline.
The match started late as everyone arrived to find no lines on the pitch but Duncan saved the day with some wonderful artwork at breakneck speed.
The first 10 minutes were even steven with some good passing and movement from both sides. WWFC were slowly getting on top and took the lead on 14 minutes when a superb run by James down the left saw him hit the by-line and find Richard for a tap in to make it 1-0 The lead didnt last long as Dad Ref Graham (Dad) awarded a penalty a against Tom (son) in the 16th minute. ( to be fair a stonewaller Tom!). Well despatched to make it 1-1. Worse was to come with poor defending in the 24th minute with 3 defenders failing to deal with the Hartshill striker who spun them all round and slotted into the net to make it 2-1. A minute afterwards they were through a static defence again and should have scored. James had another flying run on 32 minutes which resulted in a corner, out to Will who took one touch from 20 yards and buried a cross shot into the corner, 2-2 and a cracking game. Just before half time, Hartshill were ahead again, they were allowed to cross from the right and once again 3 defenders were outfoxed by alone striker to make it 3-2 to Hartshill at HT.
The second half started as the first, with good football by both sides. I think WWFC were shading it, but chances were few and far between. On 54 ins yet another superb cross from James saw Oli slide onto the ball but a defender was in the way. Drama on 63 minutes when a corner for WWFC was slammed onto the bar by James and cleared for another corner, over it came again, hit the bar again cross back over, flick on and a header from Daniel looked destined 0fr the top corner but a great save from the goalie. WWFCs backs were up now and Woody decided he wanted some of the action. Picking the ball up on the right on the half way line, he charged past 2 players and found himself in the box trickery round another 2 and a shot, deflected into the path of Richard who made no mistake to make it 3-3 great goal. Hartshill were hanging on and after yet another cross by James was just missed by Kellyl, a pile driver by Sasha was well saved by the Hartshill goalie. And that was it, an excellent 3-3 draw, good entertainment and played in an excellent spirit. To have two draws and a 1-0 loss in a new league is an excellent start and something to build on. The boys are really knitting together as a team with everyone taking their part. MOM was between 2 players. Second was Kelly who really put in a shift but in first was Woody for an excellent wing back performance
Back to the cup next week with a draw against the top side in Division 1 Im busy!
