Wellesbourne Wanderers FC Under 11s Fixture Report

Date Type Team S v S Team
20/11/2016 League Wellesbourne Wanderers 10 v 0 Lillington Juniors Ranger

Thanks to Roger for his match report (although I am not a great PA - my typing speed from dictation is useless).

Dan was captain for this game after his stint in goal for the previous game and it was a great opportunity to see what captains skills have been developed.

The team this week were motivated from the kick off, dominating the opposition (in their half straight away) shown by Dan scoring within the first five minutes of the game. Followed by Matt receiving the ball & taking it down the line and crossing it for Oakley to score a looping header. Soon after the goalkeeper made a great save but Sam was there to tap in the rebound. Then came a great corner by George put in by Matt. Then a long run by Will followed by a lovely chip over the goalkeeper. Wow - end of the first half and 5-0 to the good

Second half.
It was a quiet start to the second half but there was some good passing and shape. Then came a great run from Stuart to play a great ball to Matt who scores another. The game was going so well at this point and obviously Dave was enjoying it so much that he wanted to be a sub (enough said). Then there was a nice run from Matt who sent a nice through ball to Sam to get his second. 2 more goals came from Oakley and one more for Sam to make it two hat-tricks.

Wellesbourne kept pushing to the final whistle. It was a great game to watch and what really please me was the professionalism of the players and to show the opposition respect.

Coaches Verdict.
I echo Rogerís comment about the team and the respect they showed, it was very mature and in fact the first 15 minutes was pretty close. The difference came when we started to hold the positions on the pitch which allowed us to pass and move into spaces (yes, move after making a pass). Some of the moves were very quick and one of the highlights was a pass diagonally left from the halfway line for a player to run onto, who then took the ball forward a bit before passing in front of the goal for a player to put in - the move was done in a matter of seconds but it was very quick and accurate passing and awareness of each other - that was superb.
In addition Toby made a great cameo appearance in goal to stand in for Reace. In fairness, he was aided by a superb defensive partnership of Stuart (who every game looks like he could develop into a winger) and Christopher who are going from strength to strength.
Also, to come back from losing 6-1 the previous week to having the RIGHT attitude is a credit to the boys. And of the 10 outfield players, 5 scored.
Finally, what a great show of a team spirit from Reace - even though he was injured he still wanted to come along and support the team (i really like that attitude)
Well done all.

Man of the Match was Oakley - well deserved

Carry on like this boys - who knows where we could end up in the league this season (or next)
