Wellesbourne Wanderers FC Under 11s Fixture Report

Date Type Team S v S Team
25/9/2016 League Wellesbourne Wanderers 8 v 1 Kenilworth Wardens Colts

Today Dan had the opportunity to be captain and show what it takes to lead the team out.

The game started with great speed and intensity - everyone wanted the ball and chased it down. It wasn't long before Matt had his name on the score sheet for the first time in the afternoon. Wellesbourne continued to press up until the half time whistle and came in 6-0 up, but there could have even been a few more - with Matt getting 4 and Dan getting the other 2.
For the second half we tried to do some of the things that we have been learning in training and we were doing some great passes into spaces and great crosses, we were just struggling to convert them with James and Hector coming close. Then Oliver managed to get one over the line. Kenilworth showed great spirit and got a well deserved goal and then Christopher scored another one for Wellesbourne - final score 8-1
All areas of the Wellesbourne team stepped up to the mark with great defending, running with the ball, passing into spaces and crosses. Stuart and Chris did a great job with their defensive duties and appeared to enjoy their goes up-field. William appeared to enjoy his stint in central midfield and thwarted numerous attacks as well as helping to set up our own. George and Matt continued with some great runs up the wings with superb crosses and Georges corners are just getting better and better. And Riley, Sam & Oakley got stuck in with some great challenges to snub out attacks and were involved in many of our own attacks. Hector & James nearly got on the score sheet as well. Reace pulled off a great save after spending most of the game as a spectator but the goal they got was very well taken.

Coaches verdict - a great display of passion and at times great skill from Wellesbourne. There were moments of individual flair and then moments of passing and moving that shows that our speed and stamina training is starting to pay off. Well done to all the boys today, a well deserved win.
Man of the Match was Matt for his tireless running, tackling, passing and shooting (and a few goals) - well Done Matt
It's amazing to see that we've actually had 7 different goal scorers in only 4 games - that's really good......
